3 Days Online Faculty Development Program

ABOUT FDP

The Department of Civil Polytechnic, in collaboration with the ISTE Faculty Chapter, is hosting a faculty development program. We cordially invite faculty members from the degree or diploma engineering colleges to register and take advantage of the latest advancements in Disaster Management and Risk Reduction through a Geospatial Approach.

Participants can expect a series of engaging sessions facilitated by esteemed experts in the field. Topics covered will include but are not limited to:

  • Understanding the principles of disaster management and risk reduction
  • Utilizing geospatial data and tools for disaster preparedness and response
  • Implementing geographic information systems (GIS) in hazard mapping and analysis
  • Integrating remote sensing techniques for disaster monitoring and assessment

Guest Lecture- Ayurveda & Health

The Civil Department organized a guest lecture on the occasion of International Women's Day 07/03/2024, focusing on Ayurveda and its impact on women's health. The event aimed to provide insights into holistic health practices and empower women with knowledge about Ayurvedic principles.The guest lecture on Ayurveda and Women's Health was a resounding success, aligning with the spirit of International Women's Day. Participants left the seminar hall with not only a deeper appreciation for Ayurvedic principles but also practical knowledge that they could integrate into their lives. The Civil Department extends its gratitude to Dr. Vijay Shingade for his enlightening lecture and looks forward to future collaborations to promote holistic health within the academic community


Site Visit- Bridge Construction SIte, Karad

With the gracious permission of Er. Pramod Choudhari, Deputy Engineer of PWD Karad, and in collaboration with T & T Infra, the second-year Civil Diploma students, under the coordination of Prof. S.S. Chavan, visited the Bridge Construction Site in Pachwad Gaon on March 6, 2024.

Upon arrival at the construction site, the students were warmly welcomed by the project manager and engineers from T & T Infra. They provided a comprehensive overview of the ongoing construction activities and safety protocols in place. The visit encompassed a detailed tour of the construction site, during which students observed and learned about various phases of bridge construction, including:

 

  • Foundation Work: Excavation, piling, and foundation construction.
  • Substructure Construction: Building of piers and abutments.
  • Superstructure Erection: Installation of bridge girders and deck slabs.
  • Bridge Bearings: Examination of different types of bridge bearings and their functions in supporting bridge structures and accommodating movements.

Throughout the tour, students had the opportunity to engage with site engineers, who provided insights into structural design considerations, material selection, quality control measures, and project management practices involved in bridge construction.


Site Visit- Sewage Treatment Plant, Karad

Under the gracious permission of the CEO of Karad Municipal Corporation, the final year students of Civil Diploma, along with Prof. P.R. Khurape, visited the Sewage & Effluent Treatment Plant on March 6, 2024.

Upon arrival, the students were greeted by the plant officials who provided a brief overview of the facility's operations. The visit included a comprehensive tour of the treatment plant, during which students observed various stages of sewage treatment, including:

  • Preliminary Treatment: Removal of large objects and debris.
  • Primary Treatment: Sedimentation to remove suspended solids.
  • Secondary Treatment: Biological processes to remove organic matter.
  • Tertiary Treatment: Advanced processes like filtration and disinfection.

During the tour, students had the opportunity to witness the functioning of different equipment and machinery used in sewage treatment, gaining practical knowledge about their operation and maintenance. Furthermore, the visit facilitated interaction with the plant operators and engineers, who shared valuable insights into the challenges and advancements in sewage treatment technology.


Site Visit- Railway Station Satara

The Department of Civil Polytechnic organized a field trip to Satara Railway Station on February 27, 2024. The visit was meticulously planned to align with the MSBTE curriculum for second-year students. The primary goal of the excursion was to provide students with practical insights into various aspects of railway track components, including their cross-section, signaling systems, maintenance operations, and more. 

The visit commenced with the guidance of Prof. P.S. Matkar, the esteemed Head of the Civil Department. Under his leadership, the students embarked on a comprehensive exploration of the railway station facilities and infrastructure. Mr. Rajkumar Salave, serving as the Station Manager at Satara, graciously offered his expertise to the students, sharing valuable insights and explanations regarding the operational dynamics of the station.

Engineer Er. Mukeshkumar played a pivotal role during the visit, providing technical guidance and explanations on intricate aspects of railway track engineering and maintenance procedures. The students actively engaged in interactive sessions, posing queries and gaining practical knowledge directly from industry professionals.

 


Development Dialogue on “Maharashtra government civil engineering services, Junior engineer exam and opportunities.”

Introduction: The Development Dialogue on Maharashtra government civil engineering services, junior engineer exam and opportunities was organized to provide valuable insights and guidance to aspiring candidates preparing for competitive examinations in the civil engineering sector. Ms. Sandhya Kumbhar (Bhoomi abhilekh officer from the Kokan Department), shared her expertise and experience to empower attendees with essential strategies and knowledge. The session aimed to address the challenges faced by candidates preparing for competitive exams and provide them with essential guidance to succeed in their endeavours.


Parent Meeting

Faculty of Polytechnic Civil Engineering Department Organized Parent meeting on                     3rd February, 2024 (Saturday). The parents of SY & TY are invited for the meeting.

A Meeting was held for the parents of the Second year and Third year student. In the department parents & all staff discussed about the student progress, difficulties & upcoming activities planned for the students. Parents come to know about the academic progress of their ward.

Parents are very satisfied about the overall activities in the department. The meeting ends with fruitful conversation. Total 6 parents visited today. Prof.P.S.Matkar, Head of the Department shared his gratitude towards parents & meeting is over on positive note.

 


Site Visit- Constrotrait Material Testing Lab (NABL Accredited)

A batch of 6th semester students of Department of Civil Polytechnic  along with faculty Prof.Matkar P.S. & Prof.Mrs.Khurape P.R. visited Constrotrait Material Testing Lab,Wai, Satara. The CEO Mr.Mukund Gaikwad has guided & demonstrated various Non-Destructive Tests on Steel & Concrete. This visit was mainly focused on to understand the procedures of Material Testing & understand whether a material or product is suitable to a certain application. Students were split into two groups. Mr.Mukund Gaikwad explained about the various Non-Destructive Tests on Steel & Concrete.  


One Day Workshop on The Construction Skill Development

The Construction Skill Development Workshop conducted by Department of civil engineering Faculty of polytechnic on January 19, 2024, aimed to empower participants with comprehensive knowledge in various facets of the construction industry. The workshop, divided into three sessions, covered crucial topics ranging from construction site requirements to safety equipment, DSR (Detailed Specification Report), tendering processes, and student engagement through an MCQ test. This activity was conducted under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).It was performed in collaboration with the Civil Engineering Students' Association (CESA).

Recourse person: Mr.Milind Vasudeo Civil Chanakya (ISO 9001: 2015) Civil engineering skill development institute, (Satara).

This one day workshop is initiated in accordance with MSBTE curriculum by Prof.Ms.D.L.Vanjari with under the guidance of Dr.P.R.Badadapure (Principal Engg & Polytechnic), Prof. P.P. Gavade (I/C Principal Polytechnic) , Prof.P.S.Matkar (HoD Civil.)


Industrial Visit at Water Treatment Plant, MIDC, Satara

Department of Civil Polytechnic has organized site visit at Water Treatment Plant, MIDC, Satara on 02/11/2023 (Thursday.) The visit's key objectives are to educate, ensure water quality, promote environmental responsibility, understand emergency planning, and emphasize public health and community engagement. Students get to know about plant's water intake, treatment stages (coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection), distribution, quality control, and noted the plant's focus on environmental responsibility and public health. This visit is initiated in accordance with MSBTE curriculum by Prof.Ms.D. L. Vanjari with the help of Prof. Ms. P.P.Chavan under the guidance of Dr.P.R.Badadapure (Principal Engg & Polytechnic), Prof. P.P. Gavade (I/C Principal Polytechnic) , Prof.P.S.Matkar (HoD Civil.)


MoU Signed with Dream Surveyors & Creators

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) is a type of agreement between two or more parties. It expresses a convergence of will between the parties, indicating an intended common line of action.. Considering this in mind Faculty of Civil Polytechnic signed MoU with Dream Creators & Surveyors  on 28/10/2023 for better future of the students.Er.Pranav Jadhav who is owner of this firm is also proud Alumni of Civil Polytechnic Department of 2016 Batch. Prof.P.S.Matkar (HoD Civil) initiated this activity under the guidance of Prof. Dr.P.R.Badadapure (Principal, FOE) & Prof. P.P. Gavade (I/C Principal, FOP) with the help of all departmental colleagues.

Expert Lecture on “Concrete Technology-NDT Testing”

The Department of Civil Engineering (Polytechnic) organized an Expert Lecture on “Concrete Technology-NDT Testing” in association with CESA on 14/10/2023. The Expert Lecture featured an expert speaker Er.Mukund Gaikawad (CEO, CONSTROTRAIT Material Testing NABL Accredited Lab) who shared his insights and expertise on various aspects of Concrete technology & tests to be carried out for its quality checking. This highly informative and engaging Lecture was aimed at empowering learning techniques with the knowledge and skills to navigate the practical world safely, as in today's interconnected society, understanding the importance of practical knowledge. This expert lecture is arranged under MoU Activity.


Expert Lecture on “Water Resource Engineering ”

The Department of Civil Engineering (Polytechnic) organized an Expert Lecture on “Water Resource Engineering ” in association with CESA on 14/10/2023. The Expert Lecture featured an expert speaker Er.Ganesh Kanase (Gr.2, WRD, Maharashtra) who shared his insights and expertise on various aspects of Dams, Canals & other important structures. This highly informative and engaging Lecture was aimed at empowering learning techniques with the knowledge and skills to navigate the practical world safely, as in today's interconnected society, understanding the importance of practical knowledge.


MoU with CONCTROTRAIT (NABL Accredited) Material Testing Lab

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) is a type of agreement between two or more parties. It expresses a convergence of will between the parties, indicating an intended common line of action. CONSTROTRAIT is very first NABL accredted materail testing lab in Western Maharshtra.Mr.Mukund Nandakumar Gaikwad (CEO) agrees to share his resources for better knowledge of students. He is also ready to arrange various field visits for students.Department of Civil Engineering signed MoU with this lab for better future of the students. Prof.P.S.Matkar (HoD Civil) initiated this activity under the guidance of Prof. Dr.P.R.Badadapure (Principal, FOE) & Prof. P.P. Gavade (I/C Principal, FOP) with the help of all departmental collegues.

The Department of Civil Engineering (Polytechnic) organized Site Visit on “Concrete Technology-NDT Testing” in association with CESA on 14/10/2023. After signing MoU & expert lecture it is followed by extended site visit @ New Pharmacy Building, YTC Satara.  Er.Mukund Gaikawad (CEO, CONSTROTRAIT Material Testing NABL Accredited Lab) who demonstrates to students the Ultra Sonic Pulse Velocity Test & teaches the students how to check the strength of the concrete. This highly informative and engaging session was aimed at empowering learning techniques with the knowledge and skills to navigate the practical world safely, as in today's interconnected society, understanding the importance of practical knowledge. This activity  is arranged under MoU.


Field Visit-Highway Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering (Polytechnic) organized Site Visit on “Highway Engineering” at Wadhe Phata Satara. Second year students learned about how to carry out traffic survey? How traffic volume is measured? & many more aspects of Highway Engineering. This activity is executed in association with CESA on 13/10/2023 & under the guidance of Dr. P. R. Badadapure, Principal, FOE & Mr. P. P. Gavade Sir, Principal, FOP with the help of  Mr. P. S. Matkar, Head of Civil Polytechnic Department.Mrs.Pooja Khurape initiated this activity with the help of Ms.Smita Chavan. All faculties of Civil Polytechnic contributed to make this event successful.


Site Visit on “Design of Steel & RCC Structures”

The Department of Civil Engineering (Polytechnic) organized Site Visit on “Design of Steel & RCC Structures” at New Pharmacy Building @ YTC Satara. Final year students learned about how to check reinforcemet? Technical terms used in formwork or shuttering & many more. This activity is executed in association with CESA on 13/10/2023 & under the guidance of Dr. P. R. Badadapure, Principal, FOE & Mr. P. P. Gavade Sir, Principal, FOP with the help of  Mr. P. S. Matkar, Head of Civil Polytechnic Department.Ms.Pranita Chavan initiated this activity with the help of Ms.Dnyaneshwari Vanjari. Faculty of Civil Polytechnic has organized activity “My Department Clean Department” for Student and Faculty of Civil Polytechnic on the occasion of स्वच्छ भारत दिवस 2023 in association with CESA. A formal agreement is done between Yashoda Technical Campus, Faculty of Civil Polytechnic and Malee House-A leading Civil Surveying Company in Maharashtra which outlines plans for a common line of action for achieving academic excellence of students on the occasion of Engineers Day 2023. Now students will able to learn Add on skills like-DGPS Surveying, Drone Technology, LiDAR Technology along with wide field experience

The Department of Civil Engineering (Polytechnic) organized an Expert Lecture on “Careers in Surveying” in association with ISTE & CESA on 15/09/2023. The Expert Lecture featured an expert speaker and owner of Malee House-A leading Civil Surveying Agency in Maharashtra  Mr. Achal Mali who shared his insights and expertise on various aspects of Career opportunities in Surveying. This highly informative and engaging Lecture was aimed at empowering learning techniques with the knowledge and skills to navigate the practical world safely, as in today's interconnected society, understanding the importance of practical knowledge. This Expert lecture  was arranged under MoU Activity.

Visiting a real time construction project or design office allows you to develop a greater understanding of how civil engineering theory is put into practice. In the realm of construction and civil engineering, the significance of practical knowledge is paramount. While theoretical knowledge lays the foundation, it is through site visits that students and professionals bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical applications.

Keeping in mind, Department of Civil Engineering organized site visit at New Pharmacy Building, Yashoda Technical Campus,Satara. on 09/09/2023.

Students have performed workability test & know about the process of quality control on site. Prof. P.S.Matkar perfomed this activity

The workshop featured an expert speaker and renowned lecturer, Mr. Shrikant Ingale and Mr. Deepak Patil who shared their insights and expertise on various aspects of Outcome Based Education. This highly informative and engaging workshop was aimed at empowering teaching techniques with the knowledge and skills to navigate the practical world safely, as in today's interconnected society, understanding the importance of outcome based education. Mr. Shrikant Ingale & Mr. Deepak Patil, lecturer from the Civil Polytechnic Department of RIT Sakharale, were resource person of this program. This workshop was arranged under the visionary leadership of Hon.President Prof. Dasharath Sagare Sir,Hon. Vice President Ajinkya D. Sagare Sir,Hon.Executive Director Mrs.Namrata Sagare Madam & under the guidance of Dr.V.K.Redasani Sir, Director, Yashoda Technical Campus, Dr. P. R.
