A skill development program on “Innovative Building Materials in the Construction Industry” was conducted for Second-Year Civil Engineering Diploma students. The session was led by Er. Manish Kasar, Territory Manager - Technical Customer Solutions at UltraTech Cement Ltd., Satara, a renowned expert in Civil Engineering. Held on Wednesday, 16th October 2024, at 11:00 AM, the program provided students with valuable insights into advanced materials used in modern construction, significantly enhancing their technical knowledge and skills.
On Wednesday, 16th October 2024, the Civil Polytechnic Department of Yashoda Technical Campus, Satara, hosted a highly impactful Development Dialogue titled “Mastering Civil Engineering: From Tendering to Real-Life Construction Projects.” The event, organized for final-year Civil Engineering students, featured prominent industry expert Mr. Sunil Sankpal as the keynote speaker.
Mr. Sunil Sankpal, owner of Omkar Developers, Chairman of Builders Association-Wai, Patron member of CREDAI, Director of Sales & Purchase Association-Wai, and a government valuator, brought his extensive knowledge and experience to the dialogue. He delved into the tendering process, financial management, and practical challenges faced in real-life construction projects, providing students with invaluable insights.
The dialogue commenced at 11:00 AM and engaged students with interactive discussions on contemporary trends and future opportunities in the construction industry. Mr. Sankpal’s expertise helped bridge the gap between academic learning and practical industry demands, making the session a resounding success.

Civil Polytechnic Department Celebrates Gandhi Jayanti with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
Satara, 2nd October 2024 – The Civil Engineering Department of Yashoda Technical Campus, Faculty of Polytechnic celebrated Gandhi Jayanti by organizing a Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Inspired by the institute’s focus on cleanliness, students and staff conducted a campus-wide cleanliness drive to honor Mahatma Gandhi's vision of a clean and self-reliant India. Faculty members encouraged students to adopt cleanliness as a way of life, promoting environmental responsibility and community welfare.
On 30/09/2024, Monday,15 students from the Second Year of the Civil Engineering Diploma program visited the NABL-accredited CONSTROTRAIT Material Testing Lab. The visit was organized to provide students with practical insights into material testing methods, modern equipment, and quality control measures.
The students were guided by Mrs. P. K. Jadhav, Faculty Coordinator, and accompanied by Ms. P. A. Dhumal, Lab Assistant. Mr. P. S. Matkar, Head of the Department, supervised the visit. Er. M. G. Gaikwad, the Resource Person at the lab, led the session and demonstrated various testing procedures, enhancing the students' understanding of real-world civil engineering practices.
This visit served as an essential bridge between academic learning and industry application, aligning with the MSBTE curriculum.
On September 26, 2024, Mr. Mihir Sankpal and Mr. Omkar Joshi, third-year Civil Diploma students from Yashoda Technical Campus, represented the Civil Polytechnic Department at the prestigious State Level Technical Paper Presentation Competition. The event, organized by MSBTE at Government Polytechnic, Karad, showcased some of the brightest young minds in the field of engineering.
The duo presented an insightful paper on Drone Technology, emphasizing its applications and innovations in civil engineering. Their presentation garnered attention for its depth and relevance in today's tech-driven landscape.
All faculty members, along with Prof. P. S. Matkar, Head of the Civil Polytechnic Department, and Prof. Pravin Gavade, Principal of Faculty of Polytechnic, Yashoda Technical Campus, extended their heartfelt congratulations to the students for their dedication and exceptional performance. Their success is a testament to the college's commitment to fostering academic excellence and innovation.
We are pleased to announce that two Second-Year Civil students from Yashoda Technical Campus, Mr. Neel Manoj Nikam and Mr. Ranjeet Shankarrao Khade, have successfully completed a 4-day skilling program on "GPS, Drone, and 3D Technology for Civil Engineering." The program was organized by AICTE-RIT Idea Lab in association with the Department of Civil Engineering Diploma at RIT, Islampur, from 24th September 2024 to 27th September 2024.

Celebration of Engineers' Day at Civil Polytechnic
On September 14, Civil Polytechnic Department hosted a vibrant Engineers' Day celebration with a distinguished gathering. The event featured Dr. A. M. Zende, Head of Civil Engineering, as the Guest of Honor, and Er. Manojkumar Pawar, Sectional Engineer at Zilla Parishad Satara, as the Chief Guest.Prof. P. S. Matkar, Head of Civil Polytechnic, warmly introduced the guests and set the stage for a series of enlightening discussions. Key topics included the legacy of Sir M. Vishweshwaraya,engineering challenges, the government contracting process, and essential precautions for new contractors.
Chief Guest praised the college for its commitment to student development and expressed his satisfaction with the infrastructure and facilities on campus. The event was successfully held by entire department & CESA team.

A successful Parent Meet was organized on 31st August 2024, coordinated by Prof. P.K. Kashid under the guidance of Prof. P.S. Matkar, Head of Department. The event saw active participation, with 15 parents attending the meet. Discussions focused on student progress, academic improvements, and future plans. The interaction fostered strong communication between faculty and parents, contributing to the holistic development of students.
On August 30, 2024, 40 first and second-year Civil Diploma students from Yashoda Technical Campus, Satara, visited the RMC plant of Kangralkar Associates in Tamjai Nagar, Satara. The visit, led by HOD Prof. P. S. Matkar, provided practical insights into concrete production. Faculty members Ms. R. M. Mulani, Mr. K. A. Gaikwad, and Ms. A. A. Andhare, along with staff member Ms. P. A. Dhumal, accompanied the students. Special thanks to Principal Prof. P. P. Gavade for his support. Plant Incharge Mr. Suresh Bandagi and lab incharge Vinit Singh guided the students through field tests on steel and concrete and provided information about the RMC plant. Site engineer Mr. Umesh Shelar offered insights into construction site procedures. The visit, divided into two groups, focused on material testing and application suitability. The team expresses gratitude to Kangralkar Associates for their hospitality and invaluable learning opportunity.
On July 31, 2024, the TPO Cell at Civil Polytechnic organized a Training & Placement Session for final-year Civil Engineering students. Prof. Narayan Kharje, Assistant TPO from YTC, led the session from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Prof. Kharje shared valuable insights on resume building, interview techniques, and essential job market skills. The interactive session allowed students to engage directly with the speaker, enhancing their preparedness for the job market.
The Civil Engineering program at Yashoda Institutes has achieved the prestigious NBA accreditation for a period of three years. This milestone is the greatest achievement for the department, marking the program as the very first in Satara district to receive this honor. Hon. President of Yashoda Institutes felicitated all departmental faculties for this remarkable accomplishment.

The Civil Department organized a guest lecture on the occasion of International Women's Day 07/03/2024, focusing on Ayurveda and its impact on women's health. The event aimed to provide insights into holistic health practices and empower women with knowledge about Ayurvedic principles.The guest lecture on Ayurveda and Women's Health was a resounding success, aligning with the spirit of International Women's Day. Participants left the seminar hall with not only a deeper appreciation for Ayurvedic principles but also practical knowledge that they could integrate into their lives. The Civil Department extends its gratitude to Dr. Vijay Shingade for his enlightening lecture and looks forward to future collaborations to promote holistic health within the academic community
With the gracious permission of Er. Pramod Choudhari, Deputy Engineer of PWD Karad, and in collaboration with T & T Infra, the second-year Civil Diploma students, under the coordination of Prof. S.S. Chavan, visited the Bridge Construction Site in Pachwad Gaon on March 6, 2024.
Upon arrival at the construction site, the students were warmly welcomed by the project manager and engineers from T & T Infra. They provided a comprehensive overview of the ongoing construction activities and safety protocols in place. The visit encompassed a detailed tour of the construction site, during which students observed and learned about various phases of bridge construction, including:
- Foundation Work: Excavation, piling, and foundation construction.
- Substructure Construction: Building of piers and abutments.
- Superstructure Erection: Installation of bridge girders and deck slabs.
- Bridge Bearings: Examination of different types of bridge bearings and their functions in supporting bridge structures and accommodating movements.
Throughout the tour, students had the opportunity to engage with site engineers, who provided insights into structural design considerations, material selection, quality control measures, and project management practices involved in bridge construction.
Under the gracious permission of the CEO of Karad Municipal Corporation, the final year students of Civil Diploma, along with Prof. P.R. Khurape, visited the Sewage & Effluent Treatment Plant on March 6, 2024.
Upon arrival, the students were greeted by the plant officials who provided a brief overview of the facility's operations. The visit included a comprehensive tour of the treatment plant, during which students observed various stages of sewage treatment, including:
- Preliminary Treatment: Removal of large objects and debris.
- Primary Treatment: Sedimentation to remove suspended solids.
- Secondary Treatment: Biological processes to remove organic matter.
- Tertiary Treatment: Advanced processes like filtration and disinfection.
During the tour, students had the opportunity to witness the functioning of different equipment and machinery used in sewage treatment, gaining practical knowledge about their operation and maintenance. Furthermore, the visit facilitated interaction with the plant operators and engineers, who shared valuable insights into the challenges and advancements in sewage treatment technology.
The Department of Civil Polytechnic organized a field trip to Satara Railway Station on February 27, 2024. The visit was meticulously planned to align with the MSBTE curriculum for second-year students. The primary goal of the excursion was to provide students with practical insights into various aspects of railway track components, including their cross-section, signaling systems, maintenance operations, and more.
The visit commenced with the guidance of Prof. P.S. Matkar, the esteemed Head of the Civil Department. Under his leadership, the students embarked on a comprehensive exploration of the railway station facilities and infrastructure. Mr. Rajkumar Salave, serving as the Station Manager at Satara, graciously offered his expertise to the students, sharing valuable insights and explanations regarding the operational dynamics of the station.
Engineer Er. Mukeshkumar played a pivotal role during the visit, providing technical guidance and explanations on intricate aspects of railway track engineering and maintenance procedures. The students actively engaged in interactive sessions, posing queries and gaining practical knowledge directly from industry professionals.

Introduction: The Development Dialogue on Maharashtra government civil engineering services, junior engineer exam and opportunities was organized to provide valuable insights and guidance to aspiring candidates preparing for competitive examinations in the civil engineering sector. Ms. Sandhya Kumbhar (Bhoomi abhilekh officer from the Kokan Department), shared her expertise and experience to empower attendees with essential strategies and knowledge. The session aimed to address the challenges faced by candidates preparing for competitive exams and provide them with essential guidance to succeed in their endeavours.
Faculty of Polytechnic Civil Engineering Department Organized Parent meeting on 3rd February, 2024 (Saturday). The parents of SY & TY are invited for the meeting.
A Meeting was held for the parents of the Second year and Third year student. In the department parents & all staff discussed about the student progress, difficulties & upcoming activities planned for the students. Parents come to know about the academic progress of their ward.

A batch of 6th semester students of Department of Civil Polytechnic along with faculty Prof.Matkar P.S. & Prof.Mrs.Khurape P.R. visited Constrotrait Material Testing Lab,Wai, Satara. The CEO Mr.Mukund Gaikwad has guided & demonstrated various Non-Destructive Tests on Steel & Concrete. This visit was mainly focused on to understand the procedures of Material Testing & understand whether a material or product is suitable to a certain application. Students were split into two groups. Mr.Mukund Gaikwad explained about the various Non-Destructive Tests on Steel & Concrete.
The Construction Skill Development Workshop conducted by Department of civil engineering Faculty of polytechnic on January 19, 2024, aimed to empower participants with comprehensive knowledge in various facets of the construction industry. The workshop, divided into three sessions, covered crucial topics ranging from construction site requirements to safety equipment, DSR (Detailed Specification Report), tendering processes, and student engagement through an MCQ test. This activity was conducted under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).It was performed in collaboration with the Civil Engineering Students' Association (CESA).

Department of Civil Polytechnic has organized site visit at Water Treatment Plant, MIDC, Satara on 02/11/2023 (Thursday.) The visit's key objectives are to educate, ensure water quality, promote environmental responsibility, understand emergency planning, and emphasize public health and community engagement. Students get to know about plant's water intake, treatment stages (coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection), distribution, quality control, and noted the plant's focus on environmental responsibility and public health. In the realm of construction and civil engineering, the significance of practical knowledge is paramount.
